Early Spring!

20 September 2014, grow & maintenance

An early warm Spring has descended on the Bay and growth & abundance is flourishing.

The Bay of Plenty had a typical winter with several hard frosts and cold mornings. For the past three winters we had been lucky to experience very mild winter temperatures so the frosts, particularly the late May one, caught many by surprise.

A Spring tidy up & maintenance feed is essential to get your plants and trees ready for the dryness of Summer and maximise Spring growth.

Prune off all dead fronds on your palm trees, mulch and fertilise. Spring prune your Vireya to maximise Spring growth and promote bushyness and feed cycads to capture your November flush of growth.

A fungal spray to reduce the chance of rot on your young palms, cycads and subtropical ornamentals isn’t a bad idea either.
